Global Award Ceremony

Thursday April 5th - The Hague

Altus Police Station Visitors Week 2006

The Police Station Visitors Week was organised by Altus Global Alliance together with police and civil society around the world for the first time in 2006. This unique initiative, which is likely to become an annual event, gave civilians an opportunity to visit local police stations and to assess the services provided by police. Nearly two thousand civilians visited in total over 450 police stations in 23 countries around the world during one week.

Altus is organizing the Global Award Ceremony on Thursday April 5th to launch the Global Report on the Police Station Visitors Week 2006 and to nominate, by an independent jury, the Global Award winning police station. Police officials from the stations that received the highest scores in Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and North America will be present, together with academics, representatives of NGOs and press.

The Regional Reports on Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and North America can be downloaded at www.altus.org

The ceremony will be hosted by Mr. Deetman, Mayor of The Hague, at the Council Chambers of the City Hall. It is an open event and we would very much appreciate your presence. To confirm your attendance, please e-mail Saskia Pubben, Altus Project Coordinator, at spubben@altus.org.
